Who is God to you?

Ok I have a question for you. A really deep question. Ready…..who is God to you? Now don’t be too quick with your answer. Think about it. Is He your good luck charm? Is He just a name to you? Is He wrathful and scary to you? Is He mean? Is He unfair? Is He allusive? Is He the genie in the magic bottle you pray to when you want something?

This is a tough question. Take a moment and really think about it.

Who is God to you?

Is He the one you pretend to know? Is He the one you want to know? Is He a swear word? A phrase you text (OM__ )? An exclamation? Or is He your daily source of strength? Your Master? Your Maker? Loving and faithful? Is He your Father? Your Rock? Your Savior? The one you owe your life to?

Would you do anything for Him? Would you speak up for Him? Would you take a stand for Him? Would you tell others about Him? Is He worthy of serving? Is He worthy of your time? Your energy? Your love?

Who is God to you?

Now let me tell you who God is according to God. The following are all HIS Words, not mine. Let them sink in. Let them penetrate the hard places of your heart. Let them comfort the wounded places of your heart. May it convict you. Bless you. Cause you to fall to your knees. And if does….Share it. Post it. Proclaim it. Live it! This my friend is the One True God. The God who Lives and holds all things together.

And God said…..

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.” “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”           (Isaiah 40:28-29; Revelation 1:8)

“I am the LORD, and there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:18b)

“I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host.” “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One, Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? [the stars] He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name, by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power not one is missing.” “He determines the number of stars; he gives to all of them their names.” (Isaiah 45:12; Isaiah 40:12, 25-26; Psalm 147:4)

“I am he; I am the first, and I am the last.” (Isaiah 48:12b)

“Therefore, hear me, you men of understanding; far be it from God that he should do wickedness, and from the Almighty that he should do wrong.” “The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.” “The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. The LORD is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works. The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and save them. The LORD preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.” “For I the LORD love justice; I hate robbery and wrong.” (Job 34:10; Deuteronomy 32:4; Psalm 145:8-9, 17-20; Isaiah 61:8)

“I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.” (Isaiah 43:15)

“Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is mine.” “I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host.” “I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know me, that people may know from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the LORD, and there is no other. I form light and create darkness, I make well-being and create calamity, I am the LORD who does all these things.” (Job 41:11; Isaiah 45:12, 5-7)

“To whom will you liken me and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be alike?”  (Isaiah 46:5)

“I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” “I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” “Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth!” (Jeremiah 17:10; Isaiah 43:25; 45:22a)

“For I am God, and there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:22b)

“By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out in righteousness a word that shall not return: To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance. Only in the LORD, it shall be said of me, are righteousness and strength; to him shall come and be ashamed all who were incensed against him.” (Isaiah 45:23-24)

“I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior.” (Isaiah 43:11)

“He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.” “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” (Psalm 103:10; John 3:16-18)

“I the LORD speak the truth; I declare what is right.” (Isaiah 45:19b)

“Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7)

This is God. This is God’s Word for all of mankind…..for all who will listen. So I ask you again….Who is God? and…..Who is God to you?

We can try and make God into something he is not but God will always and forever be who He is and nothing we do or think will ever change that.
